Week 5: Kansas City Chiefs

In Week 5 on Sunday Night Football, the Buffalo Bills will face the Chiefs in Kansas City in what is a rematch of the AFC Championship Game from last year. Even though the Chiefs came up short in the Super Bowl to the Bucs, they are the top team in the conference and the one that the Buffalo Bills are chasing.

A win over the Chiefs would have a high level of symbolism in terms of the Buffalo Bills showing they are in the same class as Kansas City. The focus this offseason has seemingly been to improve to beat the Chiefs and they tried to do that by using their first two picks on defensive ends to hopefully improve the pass rush and put pressure on Patrick Mahomes.

Outside of just the symbolism though, this game carries a great deal of weight in terms of seeding. In the new playoff structure, only the top team in the conference receives a first round bye. If the Bills are hoping to reach that spot, having the tiebreaker over the Chiefs will be a big benefit if the two teams are close in record.
