The Buffalo Bills 2021 schedule is finally out.
For the Buffalo Bill 2021 schedule, this is the year to empty the tank and make the climb out of the Lombardi-less basement of the NFL. The NFL gave them a shorter travel mileage, but arguably easier opponents than last year. Buffalo is *23rd* in strength of schedule this year according to CBS. Was this all a fair deal to the team?
Starting with the team’s bye week, it’s scheduled for week seven of the first 17-game season. It’s not ideal, but it’s not the worst. What’s concerning is that there’s only one divisional game (Miami week 2) and most of the AFC South is played BEFORE the bye week.
More from Bills Schedule
- The Buffalo Bills will play in London during 2023 season
- 4 defensive players that will need to deliver for the Buffalo Bills in Week 6
- 3 players the Buffalo Bills must game plan for against the Kansas City Chiefs
- Will the Buffalo Bills surpass last year’s win total of 11 wins?
- Buffalo Bills Top five hardest games on schedule
For the back half of the schedule, the team gets an annoying, alternating home/away game pattern for six out of their final eight games of the season. As for what I feared in the air mileage post I wrote earlier this week, this was the EXACT worst thing that could’ve happened in terms of their travel itinerary.
All of the longer road trips are spaced out after having a week at home. But will this affect the Bills’ chance to get into a rhythm, especially when you need to be getting to playing your best Football into November and December?
There are so many ways that this can change or become a good thing for the team.
So was the NFL fair to the Bills and their schedule?
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being ideal), I’d give this schedule a 7. The alternating schedule and the kind of early bye week aren’t total bummers, but they are just one of those things you have to deal with in life. Plus playing teams like Pittsburgh, Kansas City and Tampa Bay will surely put this team’s championship mettle to the test.
This is going to be one of the most fun seasons ever, and September can’t come fast enough.
