Safety
Players to Watch: Jamien Sherwood, JaCoby Stevens, Hamsah Nasirildeen, Caden Sterns
The safety position is one that could have been addressed on Day 2 but since the Buffalo Bills didn’t they should make this a priority today. The Buffalo Bills could go in a few directions here depending on what they are looking for.
If they want a big safety that can help in run defense, play in the box and drop back into coverage against tight ends then Jamien Sherwood, JaCoby Stevens or Hamsah Nasirildeen makes sense. The fact that Nasirildeen is still available is a little surprising as he was a player expected to go in the second or third round. He is a player the Bills may want to trade up for if they can find a team to trade back.
Sherwood played 34 games for the University of Auburn and is one of the better tackling safeties in this year’s class. He actually finished with the lowest missed tackle rate in this group, according to Jon Macri of Pro Football Focus.
Another big safety they could be looking at is JaCoby Stevens, who played for LSU. He is another player that could fill that need as a big nickel and is someone who could be targeted in the sixth or seventh round.
