As free agency winds down, the Buffalo Bills turn their focus towards the NFL Draft later this month. While general manager Brandon Beane and the front office begin to look at their big board, it is important to assess the roster to identify the needs or positions they should pay closer attention to.

Fortunately for the Bills, the quarterback position is one they don’t have to worry about at all. This is certainly a big change from where this franchise was even just a few years ago. This is my grade for the quarterback position looking at starters but also taking into account depth at the position.

Quarterbacks on the Buffalo Bills Roster

  • Josh Allen
  • Mitchell Trubisky
  • Jake Fromm
  • Davis Webb

Position Grade: A+

There really isn’t much to not like about the quarterback position as it is currently constructed and there could be a strong case to be made that this one of the best QB groups in the NFL when considering the starter and the depth. It starts at the top with Josh Allen, who is one of the best in the league and coming off a season where he finished as runner up in the MVP race.

However, this didn’t stop Brandon Beane from adding to the position with the free agent signing of Mitchell Trubisky. The former second overall pick had a tumultuous tenure with the Chicago Bears but not gets a chance to backup Allen and develop more with Brian Daboll and quarterback coach Ken Dorsey.

As for the Bills, they get an experienced quarterback who may not have exactly the same athleticism as Allen but does bring some mobility to the position. If he were to step in if Allen misses extended time, the offense wouldn’t have to change too much.

After Trubisky, the team has Jake Fromm, who was a fifth round pick last year, and Davis Webb, who has been with the franchise for a few seasons now. Heading into training camp, the team is going to have a tough decision cutting the roster down as it is unlikely they will keep all four players.
