Third Down Defense

Another thing the Buffalo Bills defense needs to improve this week is third down, and specifically their defense on third and long. The Chiefs in Week 6 converted nine of their 14 third down attempts but five of those nine conversions were of six yards or longer.

While the Bills ultimately lost the game 26-17, they had a chance in the fourth quarter to come away with a win on a night they weren’t playing their best football. The offense had just scored a touchdown that cut the Chiefs lead down to six by a score of 23-17.

However, the Chiefs were able to drive down the field for a field goal and on that drive converted a third and 12 as well as a third and seven that essentially put the game out of reach for the Bills in the final two minutes.

This Chiefs offense is very good but when the Buffalo Bills have opportunities like third and long they need to capitalize on it and get off the field with stops.
