The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that they would be elevating Antonio Williams and Dane Jackson for this weekend’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. While this doesn’t mean they will be active, this is an important step to them being available if the coaching staff does want to activate them.

The running back position is one that has some uncertainty entering this game because the Bills lost Zack Moss for the postseason after he suffered an ankle injury against the Indianapolis Colts.

On Thursday, Sean McDermott did say that T.J. Yeldon would be active. The veteran running back has been with the Bills since 2019 but hasn’t been played much. This would be the first time the veteran running back has been active since Week 5 this year.

One of the reasons the Bills may have Yeldon active this week is due to his ability as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. However, Antonio Williams had arguably the best performance of a running back this year when he had over 60 rushing yards and two touchdowns in just two quarters.

Could the Buffalo Bills have four running backs active?

If Antonio Williams and Yeldon are active, the Bills would likely have four running backs active with Devin Singletary and Taiwan Jones, who primarily plays on special teams. This is not something the Bills have done regularly by having four running backs active but the coaching staff may want the flexibility since neither Yeldon or Williams are able to fill the role that Moss played in this offense.

The elevation of Dane Jackson is an interesting one as the secondary doesn’t have any injuries on the injury report entering this game. The Bills may want to play more nickel and dime formations to account for the speed of Lamar Jackson which may be the reason for bringing up Dane Jackson.
