Micah Hyde

Last week against the Indianapolis Colts, the play of Micah Hyde stood out for this Buffalo Bills defense. However, this team is going to need a similar performance against the Baltimore Ravens.

The veteran safety did a good job both filling gaps against the run but also dropping back into pass coverage. He finished the game with six total tackles and three passes defended.

The reason Hyde is a critical part of this defense is the Bills will likely ask him to support against the run, which means trying to contain Lamar Jackson and not let him make big plays with his legs. However, they also could look to Hyde to cover one of the Ravens’ primary pass catchers, tight end Mark Andrews.

Andrews is one of the best tight ends in the game today and while the Ravens don’t throw often when they do he is usually the first or second option. The Bills have struggled against tight ends this year but moving Hyde onto him in coverage could be the answer.
