Let Josh Allen Cook

As many Buffalo Bills fans know, this season has been the obvious coming-out party for quarterback Josh Allen. He set franchise single-season records in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and completions from the position this season. Furthermore, this career year for Allen has solidified his spot in the MVP race for 2020. Although it is unlikely, Allen is currently third in betting odds to win the MVP award, and rightfully so.

In regards to this Wild Card matchup against the Colts, the Bills offense should do their best to avoid attacking the Colts defense on the ground. The Colts defense is 2nd in total rushing yards allowed and yards allowed per rush this season. With the obvious strength of this Bills offense being their air attack, this should be the obvious choice of how to find success moving the chains against the Colts.

Conversely, the Colts defense is 20th in total passing yards allowed this season with 3,866 total passing yards allowed. The single caveat to this point that the Bills should be aware of is the success the Colts defense has had in forcing interceptions. The Colts defense ranks seventh in the league in forcing interceptions with 15 total interceptions this season.

In order to avoid these costly turnovers, it will be imperative for the Bills offensive line to give Allen time to make his reads and find the open receiver. This has been an area of success for the Bills almost all season, but this Colts defense has done a great job on all three levels to apply pressure to opposing quarterbacks with an effective pass rush and good coverage on the back end.
