Buffalo Bills win AFC East

For the first time since 1995, the Buffalo Bills won the AFC East. The departure of Tom Brady, who left the Patriots in the offseason and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, opened up the division race wider than it has been in two decades.

The Bills looked like the logical choice to win the division after two trips to the playoffs in the previous three years. However, the Dolphins looked like they would be improved and the Patriots couldn’t be counted out with Bill Belichick still on the sidelines.

While the race did tighten up midway through the season, the Buffalo Bills led from almost the start to the end of the regular season. They locked up the division title in Week 15 after their win over the Denver Broncos.

Their performance this season leads into the final storyline from the regular season.
