Dean Marlowe

Dean Marlowe has been a part of the Buffalo Bills since 2017 when the team signed him to their practice squad. Sean McDermott knew Marlowe from their time together with the Carolina Panthers and over the past few years, his role has continued to expand.

This season he has gotten by far his most snaps with 48% on special teams but also playing 22% of the defensive snaps. In Week 8 against the New England Patriots, he earned the start in place of an injured Micah Hyde and recovered a fumble on the Patriots’ final drive that secured the Bills’ win.

This past week he was one of the key backups to get onto the field and not only had his first career interception but then added a second later in the game. The Buffalo Bills, fortunately, have two of the best safeties in the NFL in Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer which hasn’t left much playing time for their backups.

However, after this week’s game against the Dolphins, the coaching staff should feel good if Dean Marlowe is needed to play extended snaps in the playoffs.
