Entering Sunday’s game, there was a concern about how the Buffalo Bills would handle the league’s most prolific pass rusher.

Racking up 12 sacks and 19 TFLs on the season, if there was any major matchup concern it was how right tackle Daryl Williams was going to fair against T.J. Watt. Coming off a performance against Washington where he had a plethora of tackles and a sack, would Wiliams by himself be enough to block him, or would the Bills have to draw help from their guards?

A resounding “no” would be the answer as Williams quietly had himself quite possibly the best game of his Bills career. Holding Watt to zero sacks on the night and just two combined tackles (one solo and one assisted) completely nixed Watt’s ability to affect the game.

As Williams handling Watt effectively, Josh Allen could worry less about the potential DPOY coming at him and more about going through his progressions. While he won’t get any credit in the boxscore, Willams play along the offensive line, neutralizing the run threats that made the difference in this game.

This now poses the question of if the Buffalo Bills will be in the market to re-sign Williams. While he has had an excellent year with Buffalo, his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

Judging by the pending free agents that Buffalo has, would the team opt to fill the tackle position with a cheaper rookie or lock Williams up long-term. Williams has certainly shown that he is the man for the job, but big contracts to Matt Milano and Jon Feliciano may take precedence.
