This a closer look at the odds, lines, and trends for the Buffalo Bills heading into Week 14.

The Buffalo Bills were really impressive in their Monday night win over the San Francisco 49ers. The offense was nearly unstoppable and was always going to outscore whatever the 49ers put up.

The big win has everyone’s attention including the betting markets. According to the Action Network, an opening line of the Pittsburgh Steelers favored by 2.5 points has completely flipped to a current line of the Bills being favored by the same 2.5 points. Sportsbooks across the country also have the over set at 46.5 points currently.

Last week’s 34-24 win over the 49ers brought the Buffalo Bills season totals to 7-5 against the spread (ATS), and the over has cashed nine of the 12 times this season.

Last season the Buffalo Bills were underdogs to the Steelers and won outright that cashed the under falling 10 points short the over in a 17-10 game. It is important to note that game was in Pittsburgh last year.

With another primetime slate up next many of the numbers from last week’s preview are the same lets do a deep dive into the Steelers numbers.

Pittsburgh Steelers trends under head coach Mike Tomlin

In 2020, the Steelers are 8-4 ATS and 5-6-1 in cashing the over. On the road they are 4-1 ATS and the over is 1-3-1. Twice this season they have been ‘dogs with both occurring on the road. Since they won both the spread was covered with the over cashing once and a push in the other.

Tomlin and the Steelers have been successful in beating the Bills four of five times. In those five games, the spread went 3-2 and 1-4 to the over. Steelers have also traveled well to Buffalo winning both games and both the spread and over went 1-1.

When the Steelers have been ‘dogs of a field goal or less, the spread is 19-12-1 with the over 11-19-2.

Coming off a loss the Steelers have avoided a losing streak 66 percent of the time. In those 72 games they have been road underdogs 12 times. A remarkable 10-2 ATS is backed by eight wins as well. The over is 6-6.

Both teams under ref Shawn Smith

According to football zebras, Shawn Smith is the referee assigned to this primetime game. The Bills, under McDermott, have been in six games with Smith and have won three of those. ATS is at 1-4-1 with a 3-3 over. The Steelers, under Tomlin, have not lost a game with referee Smith. In three games they have two wins and one tie. Both the ATS and over are 2-1.
