Let’s take a closer look at key stats for the Pittsburgh Steelers ahead of their matchup with the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills are preparing to face the Pittsburgh Steelers who are tied for the best record in the NFL at 11-1. These are some of the key stats for their offense and defense entering Week 14.

Offense

Total Yards: 344.8 yards per game (21st)

Passing Yards: 252.2 yards per game (14th)

Rushing Yards: 92.6 yards per game (29th)

Points: 27.8 points per game (T-7)

The Pittsburgh Steelers are an interesting team in that they rank in the Top 10 in points scored per game, averaging 27.8 points per game. They are actually tied with the Buffalo Bills in points scored per game.

However, they are not a team that racks up a ton of yards and one of the reason is their defense. The Steelers defense ranks first in takeaways in the NFL with 23 total (16 interceptions, 7 fumbles) which helps set their offense up with short fields. This gets them close to scoring position which would keep their total yards down but help put points on the board.

Defense

Total Yards Allowed: 300.5 yards allowed per game (3rd)

Passing Yards Allowed: 199.8 yards allowed per game (2nd)

Rushing Yards Allowed: 100.7 yards allowed per game (6th)

Points Allowed: 17.6 points allowed per game (1st)

There is no question that the strength of this team is on the defensive side of the ball as they rank in the Top 3 in total yards allowed, passing yards allowed, and points allowed. As mentioned previously, they also do a good job of forcing turnovers, led by Minkah Fitzpatrick who has four interceptions and one fumble recovery.

However, the defense is dealing with a number of injuries as their two starting middle linebackers, Robert Spillane and Vince Williams, could be out this week along with Joe Haden who is in concussion protocol.

These potential absences, along with Bud Dupree going on injured reserve a few weeks ago, could give the Buffalo Bills offense an opportunity to put points up on a rather tough defense.
