Buffalo Bills: 6 players who could be surprise cuts this offseason
John Brown
Cap Savings: $8,150,000
Last season, John Brown had a breakout season with the Buffalo Bills as he was the team’s number one wide receiver. He would go on to lead the team in receiving yards and break 1,000 receiving yards along with six touchdowns.
This season his numbers dropped a bit with the addition of Stefon Diggs but he also has been dealing with injuries that have slowed him down this year. However, there is also no denying that when he is on the field, he brings a vertical threat to this offense that helps open up other parts of the field.
The question the team is going to have to ask is Brown brings enough to this offense to validate the salary he would be set to make next year. The savings the Buffalo Bills would get would be substantial with over $8 million, which would free up necessary dollars to re-sign a player or a free agent.
The Buffalo Bills also seemingly have the replacement for Brown already on the roster in the form of Gabriel Davis, who has played well this year when replacing the veteran in the starting lineup. There is no question that the rookie is the future at the position, the question is if the future is 2021 or later.
