Cap Savings: $4,875,000

After the disaster that was the 2018 season, the front office knew they needed to overhaul the offensive line. This meant they needed a marquee center to anchor the middle and were able to sign Mitch Morse, making him one of the highest-paid centers in the NFL.

There is no question that Morse has been an improvement at the position and a key part of the turnaround the offensive line had last year. This season the offensive line has struggled but that isn’t necessarily Morse’s fault. He is still playing at a high level but missed time this season due to a concussion, which raises durability concerns.

In addition, the Buffalo Bills potentially found a replacement for Morse in his absence in Jon Feliciano. The team’s starting guard last year played well at the center but is a free agent after this year, which adds another layer to this.

This is one of those moves that don’t seem likely and would be surprising but also would make sense based on the cap savings and the other potential options.
