Running Back

One of the reasons Josh Allen didn’t have to throw as much since the Buffalo Bills had an effective run game, which has been a rarity this year. It was Devin Singletary who led the way this week with 82 rushing yards, 20 receiving yards on 14 touches. The Bills rookie Zack Moss added 59 rushing yards, nine receiving yards on 11 touches.

One of the things that these two backs showed in this game that has been non-existent this year is those big chunk plays on the ground. Singletary broke off a 24-yard run while Moss had a 31-yard run on back to back runs on the team’s final drive. These two plays were key to getting the Bills into field goal range that extended their lead to 10, essentially putting the game out of reach.

The coaching staff wanted to improve the run game during the bye and that seems to be what they did. With the way Josh Allen has played this year, the Bills don’t need the best-run game in the NFL but they need to have them be a threat to open up the passing game and improve play action.

If the two backs can produce games like this moving forward, it will be a boost for this offense.
