Keep Josh Allen Clean

Although Bills quarterback Josh Allen has been much better this year when passing under pressure, any quarterback would prefer to have a clean pocket to throw from. When looking at how the Bills offense stacks up against the Chargers defense the first thing that pops off the page are the two Chargers edge rushers, Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. While Bosa will be on the field, the Buffalo Bills do catch a bit of a break with Melvin Ingram already ruled out.

Even with Ingram out, Buffalo Bills’ offensive tackles Dion Dawkins and Daryl Williams should not let their guard down as the Chargers have some other good pass rushers. Moving forward, this could be a large feather in the cap for both these tackles. For Dawkins, this would go a long way in proving that he is worth the money the Bills paid him in his recent contract extension.

As for Williams, he signed a one year deal with the Bills this past offseason and has been outperforming his contract value by a large margin. His performance in this Week 12 game, when lining up across from Bosa, could be the reason the Bills decide to re-sign him to a fair deal or potentially let him walk in free agency.

Secondly, with the injury to Derwin James at safety and trading former nickel cornerback Desmond King to the Titans, the Chargers secondary lacks productive experience. That experience takes an even bigger hit with Casey Hayward also ruled out leaving the next notable name in the secondary as Nassir Adderley. The safety has plenty of potential but hasn’t been reliably consistent thus far in his career.

If the Bills offensive line can give Allen time in the pocket, fans should expect him to be able to pick apart this Chargers secondary in Week 12.
