Buffalo Bills: John Brown, Cody Ford ruled out for Week 12
The Buffalo Bills ruled two players out for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Earlier on Friday, the Buffalo Bills announced that starting guard Cody Ford suffered a knee injury during practice on Wednesday and would miss the remainder of the season. In addition, the Bills also announced today that John Brown would miss this week’s game against the Chargers.
The team’s starting wide receiver has been dealing with an ankle injury suffered against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10. This will be the third game that Brown misses this year due to injury.
The absence of Brown opens the door for rookie Gabriel Davis to see extended playing time in a game that appears to be shaping up to be a high-scoring showdown between two of the best passing offenses in the NFL.
The good news is that these are the only two players with injury designations and the rest of the roster looks to be in great shape coming out of the bye. This week will mark the return of players like Josh Norman, Taiwan Jones, and A.J. Epenesa who either missed time or suffered an injury the last time they were on the field.
The news that Cody Ford is out for the season also means that there will likely be a few roster moves between now and Sunday. Once the team places Ford on injured reserve, it will open up a roster spot, which gives the team two openings on their 53-man roster.
The Bills have three players who could be eligible to come off injured reserve starting with linebacker Tyrel Dodson and Cam Lewis. In addition, rookie wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins was designated to return this week.
If any of these players are ready to return, they would be logical choices but if not, the team could sign two players of their practice squad.
