Second-half offensive struggles

If a football game was 30 minutes rather than the full 60, the Buffalo Bills could have been 9-1 with their only decisive loss being to the Kansas City Cheifs.

The reason being is that in the second half of games this season, the offense has come out of the break flat-footed and unable to build on leads. In the 10 games they have played this season, they have outscored their opponents by a wide margin, posting 149 first-half points.

It has been the second half where the Bills have found themselves ejected from the driver’s seat and playing having to play catch up. Posting only 123 second-half points for a discrepancy of -26 points, finding the solution to this is paramount.

If the Bills want to keep the momentum they have built so far this season going, they will have to take a look under the hood as to why this is happening. When asked about this, head coach Sean McDermott acknowledged this flaw after the loss to Arizona saying “Yeah, I’m aware of it. I think that’s a study for the off week coming up here-the bye week-to really dive down into that, look into it and making sure we’re doing everything we can to make sure that gets better.”

Coming out of the bye week, the Bills will have an ideal matchup against a struggling Chargers team. This could be just what the doctor ordered as it will allow for the Bills to throw everything they have as Los Angeles in hopes to correct the second-half issues.
