Buffalo Bills: 3 matchups to watch in Week 10 against Arizona Cardinals
Christian Kirk vs. Bills’ starting cornerback
The marquee matchup in this game is undoubtedly Tre’Davious White and DeAndre Hopkins, who most recently faced off in the Buffalo Bills’ playoff game last year when Hopkins was a member of the Houston Texans. While this will be important, my focus is going to be on the other side of the field with Christian Kirk against whoever is starting at cornerback for the Bills.
While Hopkins gets the headlines, there could be a case made that the veteran and Christian Kirk are Options 1A and 1B in this offense for the Cardinals. Since Week 5, Hopkins has 30 targets, 21 receptions, 337 receiving yards, and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Kick is not fair behind with 26 targets, 17 receptions, 324 yards, and five touchdowns.
The past few weeks, Kirk has shown to be that big explosive playmaker for this offense and that is why it is going to be very important for whoever starts for the Bills to be prepared for that from him.
As for who will start for the Buffalo Bills, the coaching staff is going to essentially have two options. The first is seventh round rookie Dane Jackson, who has spent most of the season on the practice squad. However, he did get one start in Week 7 against the New York Jets and played well with two passes defended and one interception.
The other option is Daryl Worley, who the Buffalo Bills just signed last week after he was recently cut by the Dallas Cowboys. He is a former third round pick of the Carolina Panthers, who knows this defense well from his time with Sean McDermott in Carolina.
Whoever the option is, the Buffalo Bills will likely give them plenty of safety help to ensure Kirk doesn’t make those big plays over the top.
