The Buffalo Bills depth was tested against the Seattle Seahawks, particularly on the offensive line. This is a recap of the snap counts for the Bills in their Week 9 win.
Buffalo Bills offense
As mentioned, the offensive line had a number of players rotated through due to injury. The Bills had only two players on the offensive line play every offensive snap, which was left tackle Dion Dawkins and center Jon Feliciano.
After these two was Daryl Williams, who missed only three snaps due to an injury. He was replaced by Ty Nsekhe. As for Brian Winters, he missed about 13 snaps and was replaced by Ryan Bates.
The starter who played the fewest snaps was Cody Ford, who returned for the first time since Week 7, and played only 14 snaps. He was replaced by Ike Boettger, who played the past two weeks for Ford at left guard.
Buffalo Bills defense
As for the defense, they didn’t have to deal with as many injuries and it appeared like they consolidated some of their rotations, particularly on the defensive line. Their starters, Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison, played over 65% of the snaps while Trent Murphy played 45%.
They also had rookie A.J. Epenesa and Darryl Johnson play some, but those two combined for only 17 snaps.
At defensive tackle, Quinton Jefferson and Ed Oliver played over 60% of the defensive tackle snaps with Vernon Butler and Justin Zimmer splitting the remaining snaps almost evenly at around 35%.
This rotation isn’t too surprising as the coaching staff likely wanted their quicker tackles on the field to contain Russell Wilson but also knowing that the Seahawks weren’t likely to run the ball much.
Another snap count worth noting is A.J. Klein, who was on the field for 95% of the defensive snaps. He had his best game with the Bills by far with five total tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
