These are three teams that could be interested in trading for Buffalo Bills defensive end Trent Murphy.
While the talk has been mostly about the players the Buffalo Bills could acquire, one player they are reportedly trying to trade away is defensive end Trent Murphy. According to ESPN’s Dan Graziano, the Bills are actively shopping the veteran and there have been discussions about potential trades.
This isn’t a huge surprise as Murphy has seemingly been on the roster bubble dating all the way back to the start of the offseason. He is currently in his final year of a three-year deal and if the Bills had released him at the start of the season, it would have freed up over $8 million in cap space.
According to Spotrac, if the Bills were to trade Murphy now, it would result in over $5 million in dead cap. However, trading Trent Murphy now would not be as much about cap savings but freeing up a roster spot.
The veteran was a healthy scratch in Week 6 against the Kansas City Chiefs and played only 42% of the defensive snaps in Week 7 against the New York Jets.
These are three teams that have the cap space to take on Trent Murphy’s salary and have a need for pass rushing help.
