Buffalo Bills: Report card from Week 7 against the New York Jets
Defensive Line
This was without a doubt the type of performance most fans expected to see on a weekly basis prior to the start of the year. After the first quarter, in which the Jets’ offense moved the ball almost at will, the Bills’ defensive line started to take control and win the battle in the trenches.
They were able to get pressure on Sam Darnold making him uncomfortable in the pocket. While the Bills as a team finished with six sacks, their defensive line accounted for three. They also had five of the 10 QB hits this week.
In the second half, the defensive line also did a much better job against the run after Frank Gore and La’Mical Perine were find plenty of room to work at the start of the game. This was a very positive performance from the defensive line and the coaching staff will look to replicate it in the coming weeks.
