Buffalo Bills: Everson Griffen is the perfect trade target at deadline
The Buffalo Bills should be calling about trading for defensive end Everson Griffen after recent reports.
The Buffalo Bills defense is coming off one of their best games getting after the quarterback with six sacks in Week 7 against the New York Jets. However, that should not stop them from looking to upgrade the defensive end position and a call to the Dallas Cowboys about Everson Griffen would make sense.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys could be looking to move Everson Griffen before the deadline. The longtime Minnesota Viking joined the Cowboys this offseason. However the Cowboys are struggling with only one win on the season, and they could be sellers at the deadline even though they are in the struggling NFC East.

It will come down to what the Dallas Cowboys are looking for in return for Griffen but this would be a great move for the Buffalo Bills and their defense. In seven games, Griffen has 20 total tackles, 2.5 sacks while playing 56% of the defensive snaps.
However, the reason trading for Everson Griffen makes the most sense for the Buffalo Bills is that he is on a one-year deal and would only cost the Bills about $3 million. He could be a big boost for a team hoping to make a playoff run this year that doesn’t sacrifice cap space in future years.
If the Buffalo Bills were to add someone like Griffen, he would likely take the place of Trent Murphy in the defensive end rotation. This would allow the coaching staff to also manage the snaps of veterans like Jerry Hughes and Mario Addison.

Both players, along with Griffen, are over 30 years of age so they aren’t able to be full-time starters but rotating them through could be what’s needed to create that pass rush the defense needs.
