The Buffalo Bills were forced to make a number of roster moves ahead of their Week 7 matchup with the New York Jets.
The Buffalo Bills on Saturday announced a number of roster moves starting with the announcement that tight end Dawson Knox had tested positive for COVID-19. He was already ruled out for this week but was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list to open up additional roster spots.
The news of Knox testing positive also was accompanied by the news that Lee Smith, Tommy Sweeney who was on the PUP list and Nate Becker who was on the practice squad were all moved over to the Reserve/COVID-19 list due to close contact with Knox.
This leaves the Bills with only two tight ends for this weekendโs game which is Tyler Kroft, who was expected to replace Knox this week anyway, and undrafted rookie Reggie Gilliam. The reason Kroft was not added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list was that his wife was in labor and he missed the meetings on Friday morning.
In addition, the Buffalo Bills placed linebacker Tyrel Dodson on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. He was the primary replacement for Matt Milano, who has missed the past few weeks due to a pec injury but is questionable for this week. If he is not able to play, expect A.J. Klein to once again see an expanded role.
Due to all the roster moves, the Bills brought up four players from their practice squad including offensive lineman Jordan Devey, cornerback Dane Jackson, linebacker Andre Smith and wide receiver Duke Williams.
The players who have the potential to see the most playing time against the New York Jets based on the injuries would be Dane Jackson, who could get his first NFL snaps, and lineman Jordan Devey, who has been protected by the Buffalo Bills almost every week and could start in place of Cody Ford.
