Special Teams

The good from special teams was certainly Andre Roberts who once again proved to be a weapon as a returner. He had a season-high return of 38 yards on the only punt he fielded against the Las Vegas Raiders.

However, it wasn’t a great day from the team’s kicking specialists Tyler Bass and Corey Bojorquez. Bass did make his only field goal attempt from 38 yards out but also missed an extra point attempt that was at a pivotal point in the game. The Buffalo Bills would have been able to go up eight points early in the fourth quarter but instead had a touchdown lead.

As for Corey Bojorquez he had three punts that went an average of 46.3 yards but two of those punts would end up in the end zone for touchbacks. Bojorquez has always had a powerful leg but has struggled with his touch on these shorter, coffin kick type punts. Thos two punts ended up being a net of only 26 and 22 yards after accounting for the 20 yards on touchbacks, which certainly plays a role in the position battle.

Buffalo Bills Final Grade

At the end of the day, the Buffalo Bills did exactly what they needed to move to 4-0 and secure a win against the Las Vegas Raiders. This was in no way their best performance of the season but there were certainly a number of positives, including no turnovers for the first time this year.

However, there are a number of concerning trends that the coaching staff needs to work on this week, in particular figuring out how to jump-start the rushing attack and slowing opponents passing games. The positives outweigh the negatives and the Buffalo Bills are able to secure another high grade for their performance in Week 4.
