Taron Johnson vs. Hunter Renfrow

The Las Vegas Raiders are going to be without Bryan Edwards, who has already been ruled out, and likely Henry Ruggs III, who is doubtful for Week 4. This should make Darren Waller the top target for Derek Carr but the Raiders quarterback is likely to lean on their slot receiver, Hunter Renfrow.

The former Clemson wide receiver is coming off his best game of the season with six receptions for 84 yards and one touchdown. This is not good for the Buffalo Bills as they have struggled to cover slot receivers this year.

In Week 1 against the Jets, Jamison Crowder had seven receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown. Then in Week 2, Isaiah Ford with the Dolphins had seven receptions for 76 yards and this past week against the Rams it was Cooper Kupp who had a big game with nine receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown.

Now Taron Johnson wasn’t covering these receivers on every one of their receptions but he is the starting slot corner and teams have had success targeting this matchup. According to Pro Football Reference, opposing quarterbacks have completed 16 of 21 targets through the first three games and has a passer rating of 93.0.

The absence of Edwards and Ruggs on the outside means this could be a busy day for Hunter Renfrow. If Taron Johnson has a big game, this should really limit what the Raiders are able to do offensively and the Buffalo Bills have a good chance of an easy win.
