Buffalo Bills: Josh Allen has career game as Bills win 31-28 in Week 2
Josh Allen has another career game as the Buffalo Bills go on to win 31-28 over the Miami Dolphins.
For the second consecutive week, the Buffalo Bills were able to jump out to an early lead by outscoring the Miami Dolphins 17-7 midway through the second quarter. However, they were not able to maintain that lead as the Dolphins added a field goal prior to halftime to cut the lead down to 17-10.
The third quarter and into the fourth quarter was all Miami Dolphins as they scored 10 points to take a 20-17 lead. The Buffalo Bills appeared to come out flat after a weather delay right at the beginning of the third quarter and the Dolphins were able to capitalize.
However, the Buffalo Bills did what all good teams are able to do and they responded right away. The next drive after the Dolphins took the lead, the Bills went 75 yards for a touchdown of their own as Josh Allen found rookie wide receiver Gabriel Davis for a score.
The Buffalo Bills were able to seal the victory as Josh Allen found John Brown for a 46-yard touchdown pass to go up 31-20. The Dolphins closed the gap with a touchdown and two-point conversion late but a failed onside kick attempt secured the Bills win by a final score of 31-28.
Josh Allen had his first career 300-yard passing day in Week 1 against the New York Jets, he surpassed 400 yards against the Miami Dolphins and finished with 417 passing yards and four touchdowns.
One of the reasons for Josh Allen’s big day was their new wide receiver, Stefon Diggs, had an excellent game with eight receptions for 153 yards and his first touchdown as a Buffalo Bill.
These games have been few and far between for the Buffalo Bills as it was the offense that needed to step up and lead this team. The Bills defense did not have their best game which could be due in large part to not having Tremaine Edmunds and Matt Milano, who were both ruled out due to injuries.
The absence of the linebackers was certainly noticeable as the Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki had an excellent day with eight receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. This would have been a matchup typically manned by Milano and his absence was certainly noticeable.
While it wasn’t a perfect day, there is still plenty of positives from Week 2 most importantly that the Bills now move to 2-0 as they head home for a matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.
