Cole Beasley vs. Jamal Perry

There is no question that the battles on the outside between Stefon Diggs and John Brown against Dolphins cornerbacks Xavien Howard and Byron Jones is a battle of strengths. The Dolphins duo at cornerback is one of the best in the NFL while Diggs and Brown are coming off a week where they combined for 14 receptions, 156 yards, and one touchdown.

If the Buffalo Bills have what appears to be a clear advantage it is in the slot with Cole Beasley going up against Jamal Perry. The Dolphins slot corner didn’t have a great performance in Week 1 and according to Barry Jackson at the Miami Herald he gave up both passes thrown in his area for a total of 25 yards, both passes going to Julian Edelman.

Since Cole Beasley joined the Bills last season, he has become a reliable receiver for Josh Allen and was coming off an excellent season in 2019. He continued that strong play against the New York Jets with four receptions on seven targets for 58 yards.

If Byron Jones and Xavien Howard are going to be tied up on the outside with Stefon Diggs and John Brown, the middle of the field with Cole Beasley is an area this offense could find success moving the ball through the air.
