Buffalo Bills bring center Jonotthan Harrison in for a visit
The Buffalo Bills are bringing in center Jonotthan Harrison for a visit this week.
It appears the Buffalo Bills could be in the market for a backup center as they have brought veteran center, Jonotthan Harrison, in for a visit according to this tweet from Albert Breer which included the NFL’s transaction wire.
It was reported last week by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler that the Bills would be bringing Harrison in for a visit. It appears that this is the visit Fowler mentioned.
The depth at center certainly is a bit concerning because there isn’t an experienced backup to Mitch Morse currently. Jon Feliciano can fill that role however he is still recovering from a chest injury suffered prior to training camp.
The Bills placed Feliciano on injured reserve at the start of the year and he will be out for at least two more weeks.
The current backup right now is Ryan Bates, who the Bills traded for last training camp and he has been with the franchise since. He has primarily been a backup tackle but does have some versatility and that is why he is listed as the backup center.
However, if the Buffalo Bills are looking for a center with more experience than a player like Jonotthan Harrison makes sense. He entered the NFL in 2014 and played three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and most recently spent the past three years with the New York Jets. He was a starter for both franchises and has 42 career starts at the position.
If the Buffalo Bills were to add Harrison, to either the active roster or practice squad, there would need to be an additional roster move. The team did have an open roster spot after placing Josh Norman on injured reserve but they moved Cam Lewis up from the practice squad to fill that spot.
