Josh Allen made improvements but there is still room to grow

There is no question that Josh Allen is one of the most polarizing players in the NFL and on Sunday he gave everyone something. The fans of Allen will look at a quarterback who completed over 70% of his passes, threw for over 300 yards (which was the first time for a Bills quarterback since Tyrod Taylor broke that mark in 2016), had two passing touchdowns to go along with 57 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

For most of the game, Allen looked to be in complete command of the offense. He didn’t force any throws into traffic, he moved the ball around by completing at least two passes to eight different players and the offense had four drives of 10 or more plays.

However, as previously mentioned it wasn’t a perfect performance. The biggest concern is a fumble issue that has followed the Bills quarterback for most of his career and he had two on Sunday against the Jets.

The other issue is that the accuracy at times was an issue, particularly two plays in the end zone. In the first half, Allen overthrew a wide-open Dawson Knox in the back of the endzone. Then in the second half, Allen rolled out to his left and sailed a pass right over John Brown‘s head.

At the end of the day, the positives significantly outweighed the negatives and the Buffalo Bills should be pleased with the performance from their starting quarterback in Week 1.
