MVP: QB Josh Allen

Honorable Mentions: Tremaine Edmunds, Tre’Davious White, Stefon Diggs

One of the more hopeful predictions, but one that could easily transpire. Entering his third-year, Josh Allen has shown great progression ever since he stepped onto an NFL field.

Allen started off the 2019 season a bit slow, he had just 3 touchdowns and 5 interceptions passing in his first four games, capped off by an abysmal 3 interception game versus the New England Patriots. While the Bills stood at 3-1 during that stretch, more was needed out of Allen for the team to succeed.

From Weeks 5-17 Allen upped his game significantly and to a level that didn’t compare to how he started off his NFL career, he looked like a totally different player. Accounting for 22 touchdowns (17 passing/ 5 rushing) and only 5 turnovers (2 interceptions/3 fumbles). Finishing the campaign with 20 touchdowns and 9 interceptions along with 510 yards on the ground and 9 touchdowns.

Allen’s ball security was tremendous down the stretch and allow the Bills to not beat themselves and rely on their stout defense.

Heading into the 2020 season, expectations are higher as they should be. Allen boasts a trio of strong weapons with Stefon Diggs, John Brown, and Cole Beasley along with the talented Dawson Knox and a high-quality backfield including Devin Singletary and promising rookie Zack Moss. The Bills are also returning most of their offensive line, the only change is that Jon Feliciano is expected to miss multiple weeks to start the season but his absence shouldn’t affect their quality too much. More depth at receiver is prudent too as 2020 fourth-round pick Gabriel Davis has been a star in Bills camp and serves as a significant improvement over Duke Williams who played that role last season.

Look for the Buffalo Bills to give a lot of spread looks, working heavily with 11 personnel on the field. Allen will be asked to throw the ball more and has deserved to be unleashed by the coaching staff.

Bills players/beat reporters have been signing Allen’s praises during training camp as he has looked much improved.

During one of the Bills scrimmages during their camp, Allen was phenomenal:

In just 2.5 quarters Allen was able to put up gaudy numbers and while it is just training camp, there is reason for optimism.

As someone who had been going against Allen first hand throughout training camp, Harrison Phillips didn’t hesitate when praising the third-year quarterback:

With great improvement shown in Bills camp and a star target inserted in Stefon Diggs, Josh Allen has everything he needs to break out and become a reason why the Bills are winning games rather than relying on the defense.

For the Buffalo Bills to become the team they want to be, Allen will have to be one of their better players, and as the quarterback will warrant the team MVP.
