Jerry Hughes vs. Mekhi Becton

The easiest way to disrupt any offense is to get pressure on their quarterback. The Buffalo Bills have a number of new defensive lineman including Vernon Butler, Mario Addison, Quinton Jefferson, and rookie A.J. Epenesa.

However, it is the player who has been with the Buffalo Bills the longest that will be the most important. Jerry Hughes is coming off a disappointing regular season but did have a tremendous performance in the playoff game with three sacks against the Texans.

Hughes was dealing with some injuries during the season which could have contributed to his down season. He did have offseason surgeries and is entering the season ready to go.

He has a great opportunity to get off to a fast start lining up across from rookie Mekhi Becton, who is the Jets starting left tackle. The Jets selected the former Louisville lineman 11th overall but could be at a significant disadvantage in his first game.

The lack of preseason games will likely impact rookies the most and Becton having to block a veteran like Jerry Hughes could be a big mismatch.
