Buffalo Bills Continuity

In an offseason never seen before the Buffalo Bills kept the roster mainly intact. That extends to the coaching staff as well. Both of those could be of most importance when players were kept out of the building until late July. While other teams are juggling new quarterbacks (Patriots), new offensive lines, and defensive leaders (New York Jets), and still in rebuild mode (Miami Dolphins) the Bills keeping the course with what they have could pay off.

If Cody Ford wins the right guard position then the five players along the line will remain the same, if Ty Nsekhe wins the right tackle job, even though positions might change. The familiarity along the line between Dion Dawkins, Quinton Spain, Mitch Morse, Ford, and Ty Nsekhe will be vital in keeping Josh Allen upright. The communication and their tendencies will be huge in building on last season’s improvement.

The only major offensive addition was Diggs and he brings elite talent into the wide receiver room making up for any needed adjustments.

On defense, the backend is largely the same. Standout safeties in Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer return as the anchors. All-Pro corner White and nickel corner Taron Johnson lead the cornerback room with either Levi Wallace or newcomer Josh Norman starting opposite White.

Even the new pieces on defense can be considered part of the continuity. Norman played under McDermott in Carolina so he knows the scheme. Defensive line additions in Vernon Butler and Mario Addison both played in Carolina as well.
