Buffalo Bills: 5 bold predictions for the 2020 season
Tremaine Edmunds wins Defensive Player of the Year
The Buffalo Bills have not had a player win this award since 1996 when Bruce Smith accomplished it. However, Tremaine Edmunds entering his third season in the NFL appears to be set up to take home the trophy.
The Bills former first round pick is an athletic linebacker that has started every game for the team the past two years. He is playing in a linebacker friendly defense that Sean McDermott runs and is one that a middle linebacker previously has won the award when Luke Kuechly won it in 2013 for the Carolina Panthers.
In addition, he has arguably the best defensive line in front of him during his time in the NFL which should allow him to move more freely towards the ball carrier and make plays. If he is able to increase some of the “big play stats” like interceptions and sacks, he should be in contention to win Defensive Player of the Year this season.
