Buffalo Bills: Highlights from Sunday’s practice as WR battle heats up

The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice field Sunday and these were some of the top highlights.

The Buffalo Bills were back on the practice Sunday after an off day on Saturday. However, there was a few players missing, most notably Josh Allen, that was likely result of false positives due to an issue with a lab in New Jersey.

These are some of the top highlights and notes from Sunday’s practice.

Isaiah McKenzie with a highlight reel catch

The battle for the final wide receiver spot is really starting to heat up and last week it was Duke Williams that was dominating the highlights with his catches. On Sunday, it was Isaiah McKenzie‘s turn as he made a sliding catch in practice.

Isaiah McKenzie has been a starting wide receiver over the past year and a half at times for this offense. He is a gadget player that not only plays wide receiver but also makes plays out of the backfield like jet sweeps.

The battle at wide receiver is one of the hardest fought this training camp and both players have had a really strong training camp so far. The Buffalo Bills are undoubtedly going to have a tough decision when cutting down the roster.

Dean Marlowe with a pass break up

Most of the highlights so far has been of the offensive players but on Sunday backup safety Dean Marlowe did an excellent job breaking up a pass intended for tight end Tyler Kroft.

Marlowe is one of the primary backups at the safety position and knows this defense very well. He started his career with the Carolina Panthers but was waived prior to the 2017 season. Marlowe eventually joined the Bills practice squad towards the end of that season and has been a part of this team since.

He is not known for his play at safety mainly because the team has Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. However it is good to see him making plays like this and should have the confidence of the coaching staff if the need were to ever arise for him to step into the game.
