Fred Jackson

However, the best player to play for the Buffalo Bills who failed to make a Pro Bowl is likely running back Fred Jackson. He joined the Bills in 2006 but didn’t see his first regular season action until the following year.

The remarkable thing about Fred Jackson is that over his career with the Bills from 2006 until 2014 was the reluctance of the team to commit to him as the featured back. During his career, the Bills used first round picks twice by selecting Marshawn Lynch in 2007 and C.J. Spiller in 2010.

However, this never stopped Jackson from producing and from 2009 to 2014 he had over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage each year except 2010. The 2009 season was special as he had 1,062 rushing yards with four total touchdowns. However, he also had 1,014 return yards and is the only player in NFL history to rush for over 1,000 yards and have 1,000 return yards in the same season. There is no question that this was a Pro Bowl worthy season.

This wasn’t the only one either. The 2013 season jumps out as one that should have resulted in a trip to the Pro Bowl for Fred Jackson. That season he had 1,277 total yards and 10 total touchdowns, including nine rushing. Those rushing touchdowns tied for the sixth most that year.

With or without a trip to the Pro Bowl, Fred Jackson will go down as one of the best all-around running back to ever play for the Buffalo Bills.
