Number 3 and Number 2: Defensive Line

Even with the loss of Star Lotulelei, the Buffalo Bills defensive end and defensive tackle positions is one of the deepest on this roster. The reason that these two positions are grouped together is because of the versatility of the players the Bills currently have.

At defensive end, the Bills brought back Jerry Hughes, Trent Murphy and Darryl Johnson and they are joined by free agent addition Mario Addison and second round pick A.J. Epenesa. While at defensive tackle they did lose Star Lotulelei, the Bills are still deep with Ed Oliver, Quinton Jefferson, Vernon Butler, Vincent Taylor and Harrison Phillips.

The versatility though is what makes the collective defensive line so deep. A player like Quinton Jefferson, who will play mostly defensive tackle, can slide outside to defensive end in certain situations. While A.J. Epenesa could play some defensive tackle, especially in passing situations.

When looked at the two positions together, considering the versatility of the players, this is one of the best position groups to handle a potential loss of a starter.
