Buffalo Bills: Options to replace Jon Feliciano at right guard to start year
Ike Boettger/Ryan Bates
The last two players that could potential replace Jon Feliciano are players who have been with the Buffalo Bills, so they understand the system, but don’t have much starting experience.
Ike Boettger was an undrafted free agent when the Buffalo Bills signed him during the 2018 offseason. He was a final cut leading up to the season but eventually returned after a brief stint with the Kansas City Chiefs. Over the past two years, he has appeared in six games for the Bills.
The other player, Ryan Bates, joined the Buffalo Bills during training camp last year. He joined the team as part of a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles that sent defensive end Eli Harold to the Eagles. He has yet to appear in any NFL regular season games but has experience at tackle as well as guard.
However, Adam Caplan tweeted on Friday that the Bills are high on Bates. He could potentially be the sleeper for the starting job.
Since the number of practices is going to be limited, the coaching staff is likely going to have in their mind who they want to replace Feliciano. However, if they aren’t comfortable with those options they could give Boettger or Bates an extended look.
