Predicting the Buffalo Bills 2020 Depth Chart: Specialists
By Daniel Bruce
Cut: Stephen Hauschka
In what would shock some fans, Hauschka is out in Buffalo after being cut. His performance over the last two seasons hasn’t been up to par and as he continues to age there is no reason to believe it will get any better.
While his touchback percentage has stayed average as he’s aged (62% last year), his field goals haven’t. Since he earned the starting job in Seattle, Hauschka never dipped below 83.8% from 2011-2017, but the last two seasons he has been good only 78.6% of the time, and it doesn’t look like it will improve.
It seems as though age has caught up to the veteran kicker, and his time with the Bills is on life support.
Cut: Kaare Vedvik
Vedvik is an interesting story, a native of Norway, he came over to play college football at Marshall where he was primarily a punter for the Thundering Herd, but place kicked in his senior season as well, but had poor results finishing 10/16 on field goals.
Vedvik became the first Norwegian born football player to make the NFL when he suited up for the Jets in week 1 of last season. Some Buffalo Bills fans will remember him missing both a field goal and extra point during his first game and he could be cut after the game.
After having an unsuccessful stint at kicker, Vedvik will try to shift back to punter with the Bills. Due to inexperience it is unlikely Vedvik will surpass Bojorquez.
