Vernon Butler

Vernon Butler was a free agent signing this offseason by the Buffalo Bills. The former first round pick by the Carolina Panthers struggled his first three years with the team and the Panthers elected to not pick up his fifth year option.

This past season though Butler had a breakout year for the Panthers and finished with six sacks. However, the production came as defensive end in a 3-4 defense while he primarily played defensive tackle the first three years in the NFL.

Butler has experience as both a one-technique and three-technique tackle and this will be a big boost for this defense. He is going to enter training camp though with questions if he can produce like he did last year at tackle or if he is just better suited as an end in a 3-4 defense.
