Predicting the 2020 Buffalo Bills Depth Chart: Defensive Tackle
By Daniel Bruce
Starter: Star Lotulelei
Lotulelei plays a simple role on the defense, being the anchor in the middle who ideally will eat up double teams and allow other players on the line to get 1 on 1’s. Patrolling the one-technique in the middle of the defense, he does the grunt work for the line.
His first two seasons in Buffalo have been somewhat underwhelming for the money he’s being paid. Playing in all 32 games over those seasons, registering 2 sacks over that stretch, along with 36 total tackles.
Lotulelei has seen a drop in his snaps from his days in Carolina, playing just 47% and 46% of snaps in his seasons with the Bills. This is a steep drop from the years prior where he hovered around 60%. With even more depth added to the defensive line, Lotulelei could be in for another decrease in snaps.
