Buffalo Bills: 7 players team may cut to get roster down to 80 players
Del’Shawn Phillips
The former undrafted linebacker is another practice squad carryover for the Buffalo Bills but also feels like a long shot to make it to training camp with these changes.
The depth at the linebacker position for the Buffalo Bills is widely unsettled at this point and the coaching staff is going to have some tough decisions. Assuming free agent A.J. Klein is the replacement for Lorenzo Alexander in the starting lineup, this would leave Tyler Matakevich, Vosean Joseph, Corey Thompson and Tyrel Dodson fighting for the backup spots.
The one player that I have included in the 80-man roster that could be bumped for Phillips is Mike Bell. The Bills added Bell earlier this offseason as the converted safety is moving to linebacker. However, Bell could find himself competing for the big nickel position as an option to compete with Siran Neal.
If the coaching staff wants to keep Del’Shawn Phillips, it will likely be in place of Bell for training camp. However, both players feel like long shots to make the 53-man roster.
