Who starts opposite Tre’Davious White?

As mentioned previously, the battle for the starting job opposite Tre’Davious White is going to be one of the most talked about training camp battles for the Bills. Considering the changes to the offseason schedule and the lack of preseason games, this would usually bode well for the previous starter due to his experience in the system.

However, the Bills added two players to compete with Levi Wallace, in E.J. Gaines and Josh Norman, who have plenty of experience in this defense. More importantly, all three players have performed well at one time or another in this defense.

Josh Norman probably has had the most success but he is also the farthest removed from that season. In 2015, Norman was the Carolina Panthers’ top cornerback and earned first-team All-Pro honors.

Meanwhile, E.J. Gaines first year with the Buffalo Bills in 2017 was a career year for him, posting career highs in PFF categories. The issue for Gaines has always been if he can stay healthy and with a lack of preseason games this should give him a good chance to be available for the regular season.

While each player has their questions, the fact the Bills have potentially three players who could start, and play at a high level, gives them a good probability that this spot won’t be an issue for 2020.
