Predicting the Buffalo Bills 2020 Depth Chart: Offensive Tackle

Practice Squad: Trey Adams

The former Washington Huskies tackle was very highly regarded after having an outstanding start to his college career.

As a freshman Adams started all 14 games and was awarded first-team all Pac-12 and was also a second-team All-America by the Football Writer of America. He was creating noise, and many people had him as a first round lock in his draft year.

Then in 2017, the injuries would start to hit. After playing the first half of the season Adams suffered a season ending torn ACL, which would sideline him for a while and then a back injury would sideline him for another 10 games in 2018. Playing in every game but one in his senior season, Adams stayed healthy but looked sluggish and slow throughout the year which resulted in him ultimately becoming undrafted.

It’s unlikely Adams cracks the roster, but he could conceivably beat out either Nsekhe or Williams for a backup job if either one of them gets outperformed by the rookie.

Practice Squad: Brandon Walton, Victor Salako & Garrett McGhin

Both Salako and Walton have basically zero chance of making the roster, with two veterans and a more promising option in Adams standing in their way.

Salako has been in the NFL for three seasons and is yet to appear in an NFL game. Bouncing around the Eagles, Browns and Giants practice squads before landing with the Bills in October of 2019.

While McGhin played 2 games for Carolina last season but has virtually no shot at the roster this season because of Buffalo’s solid depth at tackle.

Walton was an undrafted free agent signing from the 2020 draft out of Florida Atlantic, he is a prime candidate to develop on the practice squad this season.
