Could a former Buffalo Bills wide receiver be returning to the NFL and possibly join a division rival?
As training camp quickly approaches, the Buffalo Bills and the rest of the NFL are looking over their roster and trying to find ways to improve based on the players that are available. Over the weekend, a former wide receiver made some news about possible joining the New England Patriots.
The Patriots have made some headlines with the signing of Cam Newton and they could potentially look to add Terrelle Pryor to help their new quarterback move the ball down the field. In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Pryor said he has had talks with multiple teams about returning and specifically mentioned the New England Patriots, as well as the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Pryor’s NFL career has been interesting as he was selected in the 2011 NFL Supplemental Draft by the Oakland Raiders. He spent the first half of his career at quarterback, where he played at college for Ohio State, but struggled to land a full-time job.
He then switched to wide receiver and found the most success at the NFL level at that position. He was on the Cleveland Browns in 2015 and 2016 and his second season had a career year with 77 receptions, 1,007 receiving yards and four touchdowns.
However, Pryor has not been that impact wide receiver since as he had a shortened season due to injury with the Washington Redskins in 2017. He then joined the Buffalo Bills mid-way through the 2018 season, played in only two games while catching two passes for eight yards, but was later cut. This was the last time Pryor has appeared in an NFL regular season game.
This past season, Pryor was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars prior to the 2019 season but was placed on injured reserve. As the TMZ Sports article notes, Pryor had some off-the-field issues and suffered a stab wound in November.
However, Pryor says he fully recovered, feels great and is hoping to get an opportunity to join an NFL team for the upcoming season. It will be interesting to see if that place is New England that could certainly use some wide receiver help.
