Buffalo Bills: Why Devin Singletary can be even better in 2020

Starting the season as the number one back for the Buffalo Bills should energize Singletary and I can see him starting the season where he left off last year.
With the rookie Zack Moss now in the fold, the Buffalo Bills will be using two main running backs who will get the bulk of the touches from the backfield. The Bills will most likely use Moss on short yardage runs and will use him more as an early down runner rather than a third down back. Singletary will be the most likely option on third down due to his elusiveness, which is more effective than Moss’ power for conversion opportunities.
Singletary will most likely get the majority of touches but not by a large margin, a 60/40 touches split between the sophomore and rookie seems realistic.
The contrast between the two runners will be invaluable for Buffalo, Singletary will beat you with more finesse and Moss will make defenders make “business decisions”.

The sophomore running back will most likely see around 200 carries on the season, on par with the pace he set last year. With a much more capable backup in Moss I expect Buffalo to employ more 21 personnel sets than last season, to keep defenses guessing.

The Buffalo Bills believe in not running one back through the ground so don’t expect Singletary to get the kings ransom of carries. Early in the year especially, the second year running back will show off his special talent.
