Trent Murphy

The first player is probably the most obvious as defensive end Trent Murphy likely will not be on the Buffalo Bills roster this upcoming season. Murphy was a free agent signing in 2018, and agreed to a three-year deal with the team.

However, Murphy has struggled to make an impact with only a total of nine sacks the past two years. The under-performance, combined with a cap hit near $10 million this year, is why Murphy’s chances at making the roster this year appear low.

This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have value, and even if it is a later round pick, it would make sense for the Buffalo Bills to try to exhaust every avenue. The defensive end position is a premium in the NFL and if a team suffers an injury at the position, or is looking for depth, they could be the perfect trade partner for the Bills.
