Run-heavy defensive line

A.J. Epenesa (DE), Star Lotulelei (DT), Vernon Butler (DT), Mario Addison (DE)

If the Buffalo Bills are facing an offense that is run-heavy, or on plays the defensive coaches feel is going to be a run, this is a line that makes a lot of sense.

There is more size than the starting line as A.J. Epenesa, the Bills second round pick replaces Jerry Hughes, and Vernon Butler steps in for Ed Oliver at defensive tackle. These two players gives the Bills defense a little more size and they should have a better chance of setting the edge with Epenesa and Addison while Lotulelei and Butler clog the middle running lanes.

Another thing that stands out when looking at this line is while it would be run-focused, the Bills don’t give up too much in terms of pass rush as Epenesa has shown an ability to get the quarterback as well as Butler, who had six sacks last year.
