Lorenzo Alexander

This list starts with the Buffalo Bills player who actually retired at the end of this past season, linebacker Lorenzo Alexander. He spent the past four seasons with the Bills after being viewed primarily as a special teams player.

However, under Rex Ryan he got a chance, and took full advantage of it, to contribute as an outside linebacker. He had career year his first year with the Bills, registering 12.5 sacks and being named to the Pro Bowl, his second in his career but first for his play at linebacker.

While he was considered a starter, his role diminished when Sean McDermott took over due to the fact that the Buffalo Bills run a good amount of nickel defense. This is one of the reasons that Alexander could probably return and step right back into his starting role.

While Alexander seems to be pretty content being retired, he did crack the window ever so slightly when he said he could return if the Bills were in ‘dire need’ but it would only be for the playoffs.

Whether it was just for the playoffs or not, Bills fans would love to see Lorenzo Alexander one more time back on the field.
